ACTION REQUESTED: ASCP Needs Your Help to Prevent Medicare Cuts

September 28, 2021

ASCP, in partnership with the American Medical Association, needs your help to prevent a 9-percent+ cut in Medicare payments in CY 2022. The payments would affect the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule, which pays for the technical work provided by laboratory professionals as well as the professional work performed by pathologists and other physicians. These cuts would have a devastating impact on pathology and laboratory medicine, which is already overwhelmed from the impact of the coronavirus pandemic. ASCP is asking you to contact your members of Congress using the AMA Grassroots Network and ask them to support the bipartisan efforts of Representatives Ami Bera (D-CA) and Larry Bucshon, MD (R-IN). They are working to secure congressional support, via a “Dear Colleague” letter, to urge Congressional leaders to address the problem.
