Results of ASCP Survey on Effects of COVID-19 in the Laboratory Released

October 02, 2020

ASCP is releasing its finding for a survey on the effects the COVID-19 pandemic has had on the laboratory workforce between June and July. Individuals with management-level or human resources positions were asked about changes in testing, staffing and the retention of laboratory professionals during the COVID-19 pandemic. Results show that many institutions furloughed their staff. In order to retain the level of staffing they currently have, the majority of laboratories instituted shift adjustments, flexible scheduling, and split teams/rotations. Data collected will provide a view of how laboratories throughout the country are affected and strategies they used to maintain lab operations. Full access to the data can be found in the ASCP Workforce website.
