July 27, 2020

On Friday, July 24, CDC updated the LOINC In Vitro Diagnostic (LIVD) Test Code Mapping for SARS-CoV-2 Tests to include new data elements in the “LOINC Mapping” tab:

  • Testkit Name ID
  • Testkit Name ID Type
  • LOINC Order Code
  • LOINC Order Code Long Name
  • LOINC Version ID

Additionally, the updated version includes a new “LOINC Mapping Columns” tab, which contains the column descriptions from the LIVD Spreadsheet Guidance document.

CDC’s update aligns with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) guidance related to laboratory test result reporting as specified in the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. The additional data elements provided in the LIVD mapping are required for the transmission of complete SARS-CoV-2  laboratory testing data to the CDC or the HHS Secretary’s designee.
