HHS Seeks Daily COVID-19 Testing Update from Hospitals

The Trump Administration is seeking daily updates from hospitals on their COVID-19 testing data. In a March 29 letter, the White House asked hospitals to provide this data to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) “to support [the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)] and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in their efforts to support states and localities in addressing and responding to the virus," wrote Vice President Mike Pence. This request does not affect other reporting requirements.  The focus of the request is aimed at COVID-19 testing done at in-hospital laboratories. Data on testing sent out to a reference laboratory is not included in the data submission request. For more information, click here.
