CMS Provides MIPS Reporting Relief Due to COVID-19

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is offering an extended deadline (from March 31, 2020 through April 30, 2020) for 2019 Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) reporting in an attempt to support those on the front lines of the COVID-19 response. In addition, MIPS eligible clinicians who have not submitted any MIPS data by April 30, 2020 will qualify for the automatic extreme and uncontrollable circumstances policy and will receive a neutral payment adjustment for the 2021 MIPS payment year. CMS is currently evaluating impacts/options for the 2020 data submission period.
