ASCP Leadership

ASCP is the oldest and largest non-profit organization in pathology and laboratory medicine active in more than 90 countries.  We are an ideal partner to implement a solution for cancer diagnosis in Sub-Saharan Africa given our track record for success in similar initiatives.

ASCP In the Lead

Our mission is to provide excellence in education, certification and advocacy on behalf of the patients, pathologists and laboratory professionals across the globe.  ASCP is committed to improving global health by exploring, identifying and implementing innovative methods and partnerships that improve laboratory practices.  Our goal is not simply to engage in a series of projects but to create a sustainable presence in pathology and laboratory medicine around the world.

Our ability to design affordable systems, mobilize person power and apply dynamic technology in challenging environments makes us the innovation leader in pathology and laboratory medicine.  Our Board Certified pathologists' willingness to offer their time and expertise pro bono demonstrates our unwavering commitment to global health.

Our focus includes humanitarian efforts that lend expertise and extra hands where needed and international certification designed to help increase the overall quality of laboratory medicine. We also make significant contributions to providing science education and creating opportunities for knowledge exchange.

How ASCP Leads

ASCP works directly to address anatomic pathology service gaps.   ASCP worked with the Ministry of Health in Botswana for years to address a backlog of specimens and create an innovative solution using automated tissue processing.  This reduced turnaround times and increased the capacity of the National Health Laboratory.   We worked with the University of Botswana to address education and training issues to ensure a long-term solution.

Using this model, ASCP is expanding with partners to multiple countries in Africa and around the world.
