Make Your Gift to ASCP Foundation Cindy Johns Scholarship Fund and Continue Cindy's Legacy

December 04, 2020

The late Cindy Johns left an amazing legacy to the medical laboratory profession, ASCP and quality patient care. A champion of the medical laboratory profession, a former ASCP Board member, and an ASCP Patient Champion, Ms. Johns, MSA, MASCP, MLS(ASCP)CMSHCM, passed away in late 2017 of metastatic breast cancer.

In honor of Cindy's contributions to the medical laboratory profession, the ASCP Foundation has established an endowment that will promote the future of the profession through scholarships. The endowment is almost fully funded. We need YOUR HELP to raise $5,000 more to reach our goal.

Your gift will allow the ASCP Foundation to provide scholarships to laboratory students across the country. Donate to the ASCP Foundation Cindy Johns Scholarship Fund today to honor Cindy and ensure the legacy of her work continues.

Throughout her career, Cindy was an active volunteer for ASCP and the laboratory profession, providing numerous continuing education programs on such topics as hematology, hemostasis, and patient-focused laboratory services.

A woman of boundless energy, she played an instrumental role in the ASCP Board of Registry negotiations to merge with the National Credentialing Association. She served on the ASCP Board of Registry (BOR) Board of Governors (BOG), from 1999 to 2008, and as its chair from 2006-2007. She also served as the chief liaison to the BOR’s globalization committee, as the BOR was focusing on expanding its reach around the world.

For her service and leadership, she received the ASCP Distinguished Service Award in 2002, the ASCP Mastership in 2010, the ASCP Lifetime Achievement Award in 2013 and the inaugural ASCP Patient Champions Award in 2017.
