In this session, you will become familiar with the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO)/College of American Pathology (CAP) breast cancer biomarker testing guidelines, understand the concepts of quantitative image analysis (QIA) validation, and develop a plan to conduct validation of QIA of immunohistochemical biomarker testing for breast cancer to ensure accurate and reproducible results. The session is designed for pathologists, histotechnologists, pathology trainees (residents, fellows and students), and laboratory administrators. It will highlight the best practices for and institutional experience of validation of whole slide imaging for image analysis of breast cancer biomarkers; discuss the importance of collaboration between histotechnologists and pathologists to improve diagnostic accuracy; and discuss the available resources and potential of incorporating digital pathology into daily practice.
After attending this session, participants will be able to:
· Be familiar with ASCO/CAP breast cancer biomarker testing guidelines.
· Know how to conduct validation of quantitative image analysis of breast cancer biomarker testing by immunohistochemistry.
· Learn examples of best practices and resources in image analysis by collaboration between pathologists and histotechnologists.
Who should attend? Practicing Pathologists, Residents, Pathologists' Assistants, Laboratory Managers, Bench Supervisors, Bench Technologists & Technicians, Histotechnologists, Students
