Roughly One In Five People Younger Than 50 Live With Genital Herpes Infection, Research Finds

HealthDay (12/11, Thompson) reports, “Genital herpes is widespread [around] the world...among younger adults, with more than 846 million people living with the lifelong sexually transmitted infection, a new review finds.” Roughly “1 in 5 people younger than 50 live with a genital herpes infection, researchers reported.” Study results indicate that “more than 200 million people ages 15 to 49 likely had at least one outbreak of herpes sores and ulcers in 2020.” The findings were published in Sexually Transmitted Infections.
