    Get Involved

Empowered patients who understand their diagnosis and treatment plans feel more in control of their situation and are able to make educated decisions about their care. There are many ways to help empower patients with information about laboratory and pathology results by getting involved with the ASCP Patient Champions Program.

Take a look at the options below, and if you have any additional ideas, please fill out the contact form below or email us at Champions@ascp.org. We look forward to working with you!

PATIENTS

Patients are at the core of health care; without patients, there is no health care. Though it can be tough to receive a diagnosis, patients and their caregivers can take control of their treatment by understanding their diagnosis and care options. Patient Champions advocate for themselves and are sharing what they have learned to empower other patients, caregivers, and advocates.

If laboratory tests have helped you manage an illness or supported your recovery, we want to hear your story! By sharing your journey, you can help others as they navigate the often challenging road of diagnosis, management, and recovery. Please fill out the contact form here or email us at Champions@ascp.org.

HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS

If you are a healthcare professional and would like to get involved, please reach out to us. Healthcare professionals can provide assistance with educational content, participate on our Advisory Board, and take part in and other activities that make our program impactful.

Additionally, here are some areas in which we can use your help:

  • Distribute our patient educational materials. We are constantly working to create more materials and we would love help with distributing our current materials to patients. We can provide either an electronic file for you to print or hard copies of our materials.
  • Share our videos. You can follow us on Instagram and Facebook and like, share, and forward our posts and videos. If you have educational posts on your social media channels that you are willing to share with us, please let us know and we may repost them (and tag you, of course).

FUTURE PARTNERS

The Patient Champions program would not be possible without partner organizations.

Each of our partnerships is a collaborative effort and we encourage you to reach out to discuss options and ideas such as following:

  • Using our videos on your website, at conferences, and in presentations
  • Creating educational materials together
  • Writing articles, blogs, and conducting research
  • Hosting conferences together
  • Facilitating educational webinars, courses, and content
  • Sponsoring events.
