The Laboratory Manager/Supervisor: Roles, Responsibilities and Expectations (Required for Laboratory Professionals)

This course focuses on the roles and responsibilities of a clinical laboratory leader who is new to the manager/supervisory positions. This includes expectations of leadership, managing the customer service process, and ways to systematically manage your team to achieve organizational and laboratory goals. (Optional for Pathologist/Residents)

Management Theory: Applying Emotional Intelligence in the Healthcare Environment

This course emphasizes the development of Emotional Intelligence as an essential component of leadership.  Participants will learn new areas where they can apply leadership and management approaches to stay competitive in today’s laboratory and healthcare environment. 

Conducting an Effective Team Meeting

This course examines the skills involved in preparing for and conducting effective meetings aimed at achieving organizational and departmental goals.  Participants will also learn how to facilitate discussion, handle common barriers and avoid time wasters during the course of a meeting. 

Delivering Effective Presentations

Presentations in the laboratory setting are essential to communication, gaining stakeholder support, demonstrating quality processes or leading others to change.  This course focuses on developing and achieving presentation goals, building content, engaging the audience, and preparing PowerPoint presentations and handouts.

Basic Elements of the Strategic Process

This course provides an introduction to basic elements of the strategic process.  Participants will learn about components of vision and mission statements and how to conduct a SWOT analysis.

50 Ways to Lead Your Laboratory (enduring material)

You are continuously asked to do more with less. This session will help you accomplish that task by developing Shared Management Work Teams that improve productivity, raise morale and increase staff retention. You will also explore ways that you can keep yourself motivated while creating a motivational environment for your staff. At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to: identify how to do more with less by using Shared Management Work Team;, create a motivational atmosphere for the lab, and; recognize 25 Tricks for Success.
