Steven H. Kroft has a broad interest in hematopathology, particularly in the application of flow cytometry to hematopathologic diagnosis. He received a bachelor’s degree in cognitive science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, Mass., and his medical degree at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, Chicago. Dr. Kroft completed his anatomic and clinical pathology residence at Northwestern University, Chicago, including a credentialing year in hematopathology. This was followed by a hematopathology fellowship at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Mich.
For the next eight years, Dr. Kroft served on the faculty at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, before moving to the Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, in 2005, where he is Professor of Pathology, Vice Chair for Clinical Pathology, and Director of Hematopathology.
Dr. Kroft is a member of the ASCP Board of Directors and currently serves as Vice President of the Society. He previously served as Chair of the Commission on Continuing Professional Development and the Commission on Assessment. He has been a member of the Task Forces on Communication, Transition, Connectivity, and Governance. He also served on the Hematopathology CheckpathCommittee and as Associate Editor of LabMedicine, and has participated in many ASCP live educational programs. He is a member of the editorial boards of the American Journal of Clinical Pathology, International Journal of Laboratory Hematology, Clinical Cytometry, and Annals of Diagnostic Pathology. Among many awards and honors, he has been listed as one of the “Best Doctors in America,” as well as “Who’s Who in America,” and “Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare.”
