If you were certified by the American Board of Pathology in 2006 or later, you are required to participate in the MOC process in order to maintain your board certification.
The MOC process provides a formal way for you to demonstrate to the public, peers, and colleagues, that you are committed to quality improvement, professional development, and quality patient care.
If you passed the American Board of Pathology (ABP) certification exam in 2006 or later, your certificate is time-limited. It expires on December 31, 10 years after your original certification was issued. Although the MOC process comprises a cycle that requires you to take the MOC examination every 10 years, you must meet and document other requirements at two-year checkpoints along the way. As your MOC partner, ASCP is here to provide you with tools and resources to help you meet your MOC requirements.
The chart below provides a quick overview of the four MOC categories, what you need to do and when, and how ASCP can help you.
