ASCP Unveils New Online Patient Safety Course with Patient-Centric Focus

Monday, July 23, 2012

“Do No Harm” is, of course, at the core of any healthcare practice, and ASCP’s new, online Patient Safety Course was designed to promote a culture of safety by engaging, educating, and equipping Pathologists and Lab Professionals with case-based safe practices.

Completion of a patient safety course will be a requirement by all boards for participation in Maintenance of Certification (MOC) in a few years. The ASCP Patient Safety Course has been approved by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) to fulfill MOC requirements and by the American Board of Pathology (ABP) to meet MOC Part II requirements.

The comprehensive, seven-module course covers critical patient safety topics, features interactive media and graphics, and is appropriate for pathologists, laboratory directors, and residents who need to fulfill requirements for patient safety content and are looking to enhance their performance in the patient safety arena. Essential knowledge, skills, and attitudes regarding patient safety in this course can improve patient care.
