Nine Laboratories Honored for ‘Getting Results’

2009's National Medical Laboratory Professionals Week kicked off April 19. ASCP spotlighted laboratory teams that get results all year long through professional collaboration among pathologists, laboratory technologists, technicians, phlebotomists, and other exceptional members of the healthcare team.

At ASCP, we believe that Lab Week is a special celebration all about people - dedicated professionals like you and the members of your laboratory team who make a difference by working together to provide results each and every day.

The ASCP recently asked its members to send in stories of people using the strength of the entire laboratory team to work together to get results. In return, the ASCP is helping to give these professionals the recognition they deserve. The ASCP was pleased to hear back from more than 100 laboratories with unique perspectives. Nine winners (and four honorable mentions) were chosen from the submissions sent in from across the country. The ASCP treated the winners to a Lab Week pizza party - complete with pizza, dessert, and other special gifts and surprises.

Materials for Speaking to Young Students About Lab Careers

2009-2010 Scholarship Recipients
As part of the continuing effort to combat the laboratory workforce shortage, the ASCP awarded 70 scholarships to the nation's top medical laboratory students as part of the Society's yearly Student Scholarships program. In addition, Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics, in partnership with ASCP, awarded an additional 110 scholarships. The total amount of this year's scholarships was $184,000. more...

Do you know any pathologists or laboratory professionals who have made a significant contribution to their field and to ASCP? Honor them with a nomination for one of ASCP’s prestigious awards or a Mastership.
