American Society for Clinical Pathology

Fellow Forensic In-Service Examination (FISE)

The Fellow Forensic In-Service Examination represents cooperation between the ASCP and the National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME) and consists of at least 60 multiple-choice items.

The examination is offered in a browser-based, online format. In order to take the test online, the fellows will need access to a computer with Internet Explorer v5.01 or later, AOL 6.0 or later, or Firefox 2.0 or later. Supported browsers for Mac include Safari 1.3 or later and Firefox 2.0 or later. Individual score information will be provided to Program Directors, as well as to the fellows.

The fee for this year is:
US$100.00 per participant taking the examination

The following points characterize the exam:

  • Flexibility in Administration: The examination may be administered on any day September 21- October 2, for the year 2009. Images are interspersed throughout the examination. Completion time for the entire examination is 1.5 hours.
  • Performance Reports: Computer-generated individual score reports and percentile rankings will be provided to the fellows and Program Directors. Exam results will be returned approximately October 30, 2009 via electronic mail.

The registration deadline for this year is September 1, 2009.
