Be prepared to discuss statistics and quality control with confidence and to defend your patient results! Attend this session to turn method validation and quality control into tools you command with a good foundation of concepts and practices, including terminology, standards and procedures. You’ll master important laboratory quality practices and gain the answers to:

  • What do I have to do and how do I do it?
  • What do the statistics reveal?
  • What do I have to do to establish a quality control program for my laboratory?
  • How do I decide whether to accept or reject my daily results?

The quality and reliability of laboratory tests require proper evaluation, validation, and continuous performance monitoring. The process begins with knowledge and understanding of the requirements of applicable regulatory organizations and ends with clinicians’ acceptance of your laboratory results for their patients. In this workshop, you will explore the process of providing dependable results by reviewing CLIA, NCCLS, and JCAHO requirements, discussing each validation and quality control procedure, interpreting results derived from selected computations, and deciding on appropriate activities necessary to generate reliable laboratory results.

Numerous examples, demonstrations, and interpretive exercises will enhance your knowledge and decision-making skills.

Following this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Define selected terms associated with method validation and quality control
  • Select and interpret the appropriate evaluation tools, such as statistics, to validate a laboratory method
  • Design a quality control program for your laboratory
  • Apply accepted quality control rules to your daily results
