Seminar Manager Responsibilities

When you register your institution for an ASCP Teleconference, you must assign a seminar manager that will serve as your organization’s liaison to ASCP and oversee the teleconference for your site. The seminar manager is responsible for:

  • Securing a room with a functional long-distance telephone line to use for the teleconference
  • Securing telephone equipment appropriate for the size of the room and audience.
    • If choosing to project the PowerPoint presentation for a group: securing a computer, LCD projector, and projection screen
    • If choosing the web cast option: securing and testing an internet connection in the room and compatible computer, monitor, LCD projector, etc.
  • Downloading electronic course materials from the ASCP website 1-2 weeks prior to program date as instructed in the registration confirmation letter
  • Thoroughly reading Seminar Manager Instructions included with electronic course materials
  • Printing and photocopying course materials for participants as needed
  • Telephoning the electronic bridge 5-10 minutes before the program begins
  • Acting as a facilitator to stimulate questions, and controlling the flow of questions from your site to the faculty during the question and answer session of each program
  • Overseeing documentation of attendance for CME/CMLE credit after each program

Influence of Credentials of Lab Professionals on Performance
A retrospective study published in the October issue of AJCP compared the relationship of proficiency testing (PT) performance with the credentials of the testing personnel using logistic regression analyses.
