References include classic treatments as well as recent publications on the topic. CME documentation questions allow readers to synthesize what they have read and obtain credit for participating in each CheckSample exercise.

The ASCP is accredited by the ACCME to provide CME for physicians. The ASCP designates these educational activities for a maximum of 8 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activities.
