The new Lab Advantage program is designed to be one-stop shopping for laboratories looking for accreditation, education, and proficiency testing products and services.
Lab Advantage is a convergence of the American Society for Clinical Pathology’s (ASCP) education and assessment products, the American Proficiency Institute’s (API) proficiency testing and management services, and The Joint Commission’s accreditation of laboratory processes. The Web site, www.labadvantage.org, is now accessible.
“Before Lab Advantage, customers who wanted to take advantage of gold-star lab products had to visit three different Web sites,” said Jennifer Rhamy, Executive Director of the Laboratory Accreditation Program at The Joint Commission. “All three partnering groups have one goal—to ensure patient safety through a coordinated and collaborative approach to quality.”
The program’s hallmarks include low-price proficiency testing and discounted professional education. Organizations that belong to the Lab Advantage program are able to integrate online API proficiency testing that meets The Joint Commission requirements and participate in ASCP technological and scientific educational programs. The result is a cost-effective program that unites the benefits of all three health organizations in a single process.
Lab Advantage will extend a 5-percent discount on accreditation fees and a 10-percent discount on educational products to its customers. Customers can order what best suits the configuration of their particular laboratory setting, all at one time and on one Web site. Links show key products from each organization, an easy-to-use information form that helps tailor a customer’s needs, and a press room that will highlight relevant company news.
