Globalization Committee Meeting Announcement

ASCP will be holding the next meeting of the Globalization Committee in Malmö, Sweden May 9-11, 2009 at the Hotel Scandic Kramer. These meetings will coincide with the 25th International Papillomavirus Conference in Malmö from May 10-14, 2009 and the Pathology and Cytology Spring Conference in Malmö from May 14-16, 2009.

These meetings will provide an opportunity for the Globalization Committee to further our knowledgebase of international education and explore clinical laboratory programs throughout Scandinavia while networking with laboratory practitioners and educators throughout this region.

Pre and Post-Globalization events will be scheduled with key stakeholders in Copenhagen, Denmark and Stockholm, Sweden.

BOC Volunteer Introduces ASCPi to Japan
Hideo Sakamoto, PhD, a member of the ASCP Board of Certification’s international certification consortium, wrote an article in a recent issue of the Japanese Journal of Clinical Laboratory Instruments and Reagents. In the article, “Introduction of the Medical Technologist Licensure System in the United States of America and ASCPi” Sakamoto summarizes the MT licensure system in the USA and discusses ASCPi. First International Phlebotomy Technicians Certified in Hong Kong
Ten phlebotomists and technologists from the Clinical Laboratory of Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital have achieved the PBT(ASCPi) certification in 2008. Earlier in the year, they successfully completed a Professional Certificate Programme in Phlebotomy organized by the same hospital. more...
