When are scholarship applications due?

All scholarship applications must be postmarked no later than December 1, 2014.  Faxed applications (fax to (312) 541-4472) must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. Central Standard Time (CST). There are no extensions.

Can I send my transcripts/letters of recommendation separately from my scholarship application?

Yes; transcripts and letters of recommendation do not have to be included with your scholarship application form, however, all materials must be postmarked by December 1, 2014 or submitted via fax at (312) 541-4472 by 5:00 p.m. Central Standard Time. All materials should be sent to the same address or Fax number that is listed above and should clearly be addressed to the “Siemens-ASCP Scholarship Program.” 

How will I know that you received my scholarship application?

You will be notified via e-mail by mid-December 2014 confirming receipt of your scholarship application.

What happens if my scholarship application is incomplete?

Incomplete applications will not be processed or returned.  E-mail notifications will be sent out by mid-December 2014 and you will be notified that your application was incomplete. No extensions are permitted so please double check your application packet before submitting it.

My Program Director is out of the office and is not available to sign my scholarship application.  Is there anything I can do?

When your Program Director returns to the office, please ask them to send an e-mail to membership@ascp.org explaining that he/she was out of the office and they are electronically signing your application.  The Program Director’s full name and contact information and your full name should be included in the e-mail.

What is an activities list?  What if I don’t have any major activities to report?

An activities list should include extra-curricular activities you have been involved with during the time you are enrolled in your full-time academic program.  This includes volunteer work and/or community service.  Applications that require an activities list will not be evaluated if the list is not included or missing from the submission. 

When will I find out if I was selected to receive a scholarship?

The ASCP Scholarship Committee meets to review all completed applications in mid-January 2015.  All scholarship applicants will be notified of the Committee’s final decisions by February 2015, recipients via mail and non-recipients via email.

Can I apply for more than one scholarship?

If you qualify for more than one scholarship, you can apply in all categories that you qualify for.

If I am selected to receive a scholarship, when will I receive my award check?  Can checks be expedited or sent via courier?

Your award check will be mailed to you via first-class U.S. postal mail by April 2015.  Please be sure that we have your correct mailing address.

Do I have to be a U.S. citizen to apply for a scholarship?

At this time, scholarships are only granted to individuals with a valid Social Security number, meaning they are a citizen or permanent resident of the United States.

Does ASCP publish the list of scholarship recipients?

Yes; ASCP will publish the names of all scholarship recipients in various communications pieces and in social media in April 2015. 

Do you offer any scholarships for international students?

At this time, scholarships are only granted to individuals with a valid Social Security number, meaning they are a citizen or permanent resident of the United States.
