I just started my program and I won’t have official transcripts or an official GPA by the application deadline. What should I do?
You may submit unofficial transcripts that have been verified (signed and dated) by your program director. For example, you can ask your program director to make copies of the transcript(s) you submitted when applying to your current program. Your program director must verify that the copies were received as official transcripts by signing and dating them.

What’s the difference between official transcripts and unofficial transcripts?
Official transcripts do not allow anyone to open or modify the transcripts in any way. Official transcripts are sent directly to ASCP from the college or university you attend (or have attended in the past). To send official transcripts, request your transcripts from every university or college be sent directly to ASCP using the following address below. To send unofficial transcripts, you can ask your program director to make copies of the transcript(s) you submitted when applying to your current program, and have your program director verify (sign and date) the copies were originally received as official transcripts.

Please try using Google Chrome or Internet Explorer. If you receive the same error message, please email scholarships@ascp.org and explain the situation.

What is my cumulative GPA and how do I calculate it?

Your cumulative GPA is a calculation of your GPA across each institution you have attended. If you have only attended one institution, your cumulative GPA is your current GPA. If you have attended more than one school, use this formula to calculate your cumulative GPA:

Semester Hours (SH) Calculation Formula

SH per School x GPA = Quality Points (QP) per school

QP per School One + QP per School Two = Total QP

SH per School One + SH per School Two = Total SH

Total QP / Total SH = Cumulative GPA

Example: if a student attended College One for 60 SH and earned a GPA of 3.50 and transferred to College Two for 90 SH with a 4.0 GPA, the student’s cumulative GPA totals 3.80 as follows:

60 SH x 3.50 GPA = 210 QP

90 SH x 4.0 GPA = 360 QP

210 QP + 360 QP = 570 QP

60 SH + 90 SH = 150 SH

570 QP / 150 SH = 3.80 Cumulative GPA

Quarter Hours (QH) Calculation Formula

Convert QH to SH by dividing by 1.5, and use the SH calculation formula.

Example: 90 QH / 1.5 = 60 SH
