BOC Mission Statement

The mission of the Board of Certification is to provide excellence in certification of laboratory professionals on behalf of patients worldwide.

BOC Vision Statement

To be the gold standard in global certification for all laboratory professionals.

Governance and Committees

The ASCP Board of Certification develops, establishes and maintains standards and procedures for individuals to enter, continue and/or advance in a career in medical laboratory science, and then certifies those individuals who meet the required criteria. The ASCP Board of Certification maintains a roster of certificants. The certification functions of the ASCP Board of Certification is governed by a Board of Governors.

    The members of Board of Certification Examination Committees and Work Groups include technicians, technologists, laboratory scientists, supervisors, program directors, and physicians from across the country. Examination Committees meet annually and are responsible for the planning, development, and review of the examination databases. They also determine the accuracy and relevancy of test items, confirm the standards for each examination, and perform job or practice analyses.
