You must meet the eligibility requirements established by the ASCP Board of Certification and the licensure requirements established by the state of New York. You must also successfully complete the ASCP certification examination administered after September 1, 2001 for MT/MLS, MLT, CT or HT.
Step 1: Contact the state of New York website for information on completing the licensure process, and submit an application to the state of New York.
Step 2: Review the eligibility requirements for the appropriate examination category (MT/MLS, MLT, CT, HT) to be sure you have met these requirements.
Step 3: To apply for ASCP certification AND licensure, complete the online application for ASCP certification and licensure. An official transcript verifying the degree and science requirements must be submitted. Documentation form(s) and letter(s) of authenticity (depending on the examination route under which you are applying) may be required. For detailed eligibility requirements, click here. Step 4: Upon determination of your eligibility for examination, you will receive an email notification to login to view your Admission Notification. Verify all information for accuracy. You may schedule an appointment to take the licensure examination at your convenience Monday through Saturday within the three (3) month examination eligibility period.
Step 5: Study for Exam. View study materials.
Step 6: Upon completion of the examination, your result (pass or fail) will appear briefly on the computer screen. A notification to view your examination score by logging in to your ASCP account will be emailed to you within four (4) business days after we have received your final transcript verifying completion of the academic requirements. A Third Party Verification Request link will be made available on the online examinee score report providing instructions for requesting verification of certification to be submitted to a third party, such as a State licensing board or employer. Third party verification requests may also be made by going to this link. Do not place a third party verification request until successful completion of the examination and receipt of your score report. There is a $15 service fee (payable by credit card) associated with requesting a third party verification. Upon passing the examination, you will receive a certification number on your score report and a certificate verifying your certification within 6-8 weeks.
