International Credentials through ASCPⁱ help you stay focused on work and education priorities no matter where you’re located.

ASCP offers its gold standard credentials in the form of international certification to eligible individuals worldwide. The ASCPⁱ credential certifies professional competency among new and practicing laboratory personnel in an effort to contribute globally to the highest standards of patient safety. Graduates of medical laboratory science programs outside the United States are challenged with content that mirrors the standards of excellence established by ASCP exams. The ASCPⁱ credential carries the weight of eighty years of expertise in clinical laboratory professional certification.

Certification Benefits & Expiration

After passing the examination, you will receive a packet of information welcoming you as part of the ASCP certified laboratory team, including:

Certificate of Certification suitable for framing, valid for three years
Certification Maintenance Program (CMP) packet

This information will be mailed to you approximately 8-10 weeks after the examination scores are emailed. You will be entitled to use the initials “CM” in superscript after your certification initials immediately upon receipt of your certification i.e, MT(ASCPⁱ)^CM.

Certification Expiration
Individuals ASCPⁱ certified beginning January 1, 2012, will be required to participate in the Certification Maintenance Program. Your certification will remain valid for a period of three years, with the validation dates indicated on your certificate. In order to maintain your certification, you must complete the Certification Maintenance Program (CMP) every three years. (Individuals (ASCPⁱ) certified prior to January 1, 2012 will not be required to complete the Certification Maintenance Program (CMP) to maintain their certification.)

If you fail to complete the CMP as required, your certification will expire and no longer be valid. The ASCP Board of Certification will respond to requests for verification of certification with the dates in which your certification was valid.

ASCPⁱ certification is public record. Inquiries about an individual’s certification status will be answered with the category and certification validation period.
