David Lewin is an experienced pathologist with specialties in gastrointestinal, liver, and pancreatic pathology. Since 1996, he has served as a Professor of Pathology at the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, S.C., where he has also held several administrative appointments, including Director of Gastrointestinal and Hepatic Pathology, Pathology Residency Program Director, and Vice Chair for Medical Affairs.

Dr. Lewin received his bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley, Calif., and his medical degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He also completed his pathology internship and residency at UCLA, followed by a surgical pathology fellowship at University of Southern California. He is a reviewer for several journals and has been a lecturer and presenter at several professional gatherings and symposia.

He serves on the ASCP Board of Directors and is Chair of the Annual Meeting Steering Committee. He previously chaired the ASCP Resident Physician Section (now the Resident Council). Dr. Lewin is also a member of the College of American Pathologists, the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, the Rodger Haggitt Gastrointestinal Pathology Society, and the Hans Popper Hepatopathology Society.
