  • define the pathophysiologic mechanisms of pulmonary capillary hemangiomatosis.
  • recognize the clinical and radiologic manifestations of pulmonary capillary hemangiomatosis that may help facilitate antemortem diagnosis.
  • recognize the primary gross and microscopic findings responsible for the signs and symptoms of pulmonary capillary hemangiomatosis.
  • differentiate between pulmonary capillary hemangiomatosis and pulmonary veno-occlusive disease.
  • discuss the effects of the overexpression of platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF)-B and PDGFR-® in patients with pulmonary capillary hemangiomatosis.
  • discuss current treatment options for patients with pulmonary capillary hemangiomatosis, including the adverse effects of prostacyclin therapy.
