Upon completion of this activity, you will be able to:

• discuss the use of enzyme levels in the diagnosis of liver disease.
• linterpret laboratory results in which the following enzymes are elevated: aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), gamma glutamyl transferase (GGT).
• discuss factors which can affect the reference ranges of AST, ALT, ALP, and GGT.
