Keeping pace with emerging issues, technology, and science in diagnostic cytopathology of the female genital tract is a daunting challenge. This three-day course will quickly bring you up to speed on current laboratory standards and provide you with the latest information on reporting cervical/vaginal cytology, guidance for preparing your lab for compliance with CLIA and HIPAA regulations, and an update on CLIA-mandated proficiency testing requirements.

This is the best of both worlds – an opportunity to hone your interpretive skills and to gain the tools you need to ensure optimum accuracy in diagnosis. The expert faculty will guide you through some of the major challenges you face – avoiding cytologic interpretation problems when differentiating between benign reactive vs. neoplastic conditions, understanding new methodologies, minimizing unnecessary medical procedures, and communicating with clinicians.

Highlights: How can you keep up? This course will bring you the latest information about advances in the field, including –

  • Findings to date from the ASCUS – Low Grade Triage Study (ALTS)
  • HPV pathobiology
  • High-risk HPV testing for triage of ASCUS results and primary screening
  • Liquid-based technology, processes, and morphology
  • Automated computerized screening
  • ASCCP management guidelines
  • New automation technologies
  • New laboratory standards
  • New CLIA proficiency testing requirements

Bring your challenging slides for discussions with the faculty and evaluate your knowledge with self-assessment options. You’ll receive a comprehensive course syllabus on site.

Following this course, you will be able to:

  • Identify, classify, and differentiate benign, pre-malignant, and malignant lesions of the female genital tract.
  • Describe automated technologies and preparatory techniques for gynecologic cytology.
  • Identify key issues supporting an effective quality assurance program in the cytology laboratory.
  • Communicate effectively with clinicians regarding cervical cytology specimens.
