Visit Biocare Medical's Learning Lab and experience the typical immunohistochemistry (IHC) workflow, including advances in automation that are making their way into clinical and research laboratories. Throughout the exhibit hours, manual and automated IHC and in situ hybridization (ISH) demonstrations will be taking place. See how Multiplex IHC antibodies can increase predictive value while reducing reagent and labor cost. Learn how Biocare is enabling ISH to move into the IHC lab with demonstrations of RISH protocols on our IHC equipment.

The Bloodhound Integrated Hematology System is the world's first all-in-one, integrated, hematology system. Designed to improve workflow, speed analysis and lower costs in the hematology lab by combining a digital morphological analyzer, cell counter and classifier into a single compact analyzer. We will be demonstrating the Viewing Station capabilities of this system. The Bloodhound System is currently not for sale.

The therascreen® KRAS RGQ PCR Kit is the first FDA-approved KRAS companion diagnostic test. It is a sensitive and specific real time PCR assay which detects the 7 KRAS mutations with proven clinical utility and a low limit of detection. This test meets the requirements of the ERBITUX® drug label.


PATHWays Self-Directed Learning Activity

The PATHWays learning area features self-directed educational activities for attendees to complete at any time during the meeting.

The educational format is a self-guided tour through 8 learning modules covering various cases in Anatomic Pathology, Hematopathology, and Clinical Pathology.

Participants access the educational activities utilizing onsite iPads and laptops; each module consists of a clinical history, digital images, laboratory findings, differential diagnoses, case interpretations, and multiple choice questions to test the learner's comprehension of the topic.

The PATHWays learning area is open during all Exhibit hours. This activity is a walk-up activity with no reservations or sign ups necessary.


Case-of-the-Day Kiosk

Challenge yourself to see if you can solve the Case-of-the Day!

Visit the Case-of-the-Day kiosk and view the case information displayed on the monitor. Read the question being posed and the possible answer choices.

Enter your answer into the computer station by the kiosk. The names of those individuals who correctly solved the Case-of-the Day will be posted on adjacent bulletin boards during the day.

The Case-of-the-Day Kiosk is open during all Exhibit hours. This activity is a walk-up activity with no reservations or sign ups necessary.


ASCP Continuing Professional Development Demonstration Area

  • Laboratory Management University (LMU)—Offers lab management online/blended curriculum focusing on leadership, personnel management, operations, financial management, informatics and compliance leading to a Certificate Award.
  • PRISE—A comprehensive self-study tool to help Pathologists prepare for the MOC Cognitive Examination and gives Residents access to hundreds of questions and answers in a format similar to RISE.
  • Patient Safety—A 7-module online program that will teach essential knowledge, skills, and attitudes about patient safety that can improve care.
  • Improving the Competence of Clinicians Proving Care for NSCLC—A comprehensive online course addressing the identification of current biomarkers utilized to categorize molecular and histologic features of NSCLC and their relevant applications for diagnosis, monitoring, and personalized care.
