The momentum remained high on the fourth and final day. Dr. Elaine Mardis presented whole genome sequencing by next generation methods. Japanese clinical scientist Dr. Hideo Sakamoto discussed the experience of laboratory professionals in recovering from the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
In honor of Michele Raible, MD, PharmD, Rebecca Johnson, MD, FASCP, shared with residents her thoughts on what it takes to succeed as a pathologist.
On Oct. 22, judges decided on the winners of the research poster contest in several categories, including laboratory practice. The research efforts of pathologists, residents, and scientists offered new insights into diseases and patient outcomes during an unprecedented ASCP Annual Meeting/WASPaLM XXVI World Congress.
When the day ended, participants’ thoughts turned to the 2012 ASCP Annual Meeting, Oct. 31–Nov. 3, Boston. Expect best practices in education for the entire laboratory team and the latest knowledge on topics such as personalized medicine and molecular diagnostics. Hope to see you there!
